B3 Leather Bomber Pilot Aviator Jacket
The mid-1930s introduced the B3 Flight Jacket, followed by the B series jacket. Not only specifically called a “flight jacket,” but also known for the sheepskin leather and thick sheep fur lining, in contrast to bomber jackets. This aviator jacket model did not have a knit waistband, and there were two leather straps to keep the collar closed. Although attractive to look at, these jackets were heavy and designed to maintain the bomber warm at an altitude of 25,000 feet.
